How Often to Scan Your Libre CGM Sensor
How Often to Scan Your Libre CGM Sensor
Updated over 3 weeks ago

The Freestyle Libre 2 sensor is able to store 8 hours worth of glucose data. As long as you scan once every 8 hours all data will be captured. If more than 8 hours passes between scans, there will be a blank space on your graph where data had been erased to store only the most recent 8 hours.

There is no maximum to the amount of time you can scan! We recommend scanning often throughout the day. This includes right away when waking up, before meals, 1 hour after meals, and before bed. The more often you scan, the more real-time knowledge you gain into your glucose levels!

The Freestyle Libre 3 sensor functions via continuous bluetooth, so you won't need to scan after you've started the sensor. Continuous readings will be interrupted if you turn off your phone or Bluetooth, or if you close the Libre 3 app. Your sensor will store up to 8 hours of data, so as long as the connection is re-established within that time window, you will have continuous glucose readings.
