Why are There Blank Spaces in Glucose Data or Graphs

Troubleshooting missing data in your glucose chart

If you're seeing blank spaces in your glucose graph, it typically means there was a period where your sensor wasn't able to send glucose data to the Libre app. The cause depends on which sensor you're using.

Libre 3 Plus (streams automatically via Bluetooth)

The Libre 3 Plus sensor streams data continuously to your phone over Bluetooth. Gaps usually happen when that connection is interrupted. Common causes:

  • Phone Bluetooth turned off or temporarily unavailable

  • Phone out of range of the sensor (the Bluetooth range is approximately 33 feet / 10 meters)

  • Libre app closed or killed in the background by your phone's battery saver or memory management

  • Phone powered off or restarting

Once the connection is restored, up to 8 hours of stored data will be backfilled from the sensor.

Libre 2 (requires scanning)

The Libre 2 sensor stores up to 8 hours of glucose data. If more than 8 hours pass between scans with your phone, data beyond that window is lost and cannot be recovered.

To avoid gaps, scan your sensor at least once every 8 hours.

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Make sure Bluetooth is turned on in your phone settings

  2. Ensure your phone is within range of the sensor

  3. Check that the Libre app is open or running in the background (not force-closed)

  4. Try toggling Bluetooth off and back on

  5. Restart your phone if the above steps don't help

  6. Consider enabling the Signal Loss alarm in the Libre app (Settings > Alarms) so you're alerted when the connection drops

Once the sensor reconnects, any stored data (up to 8 hours) will sync automatically.
